Though this post is only crafted for Medium users. But the method can be applied to Twitter and Instagram as well. You just require the list of followers and the ones you are following from each platform.

Medium is a great platform and frankly speaking it has one of the most supportive communities of readers that I have ever seen in the Blogosphere. We all support each other like a giant family and help each other in getting traction and traffic to our soul-bearing pieces. Writing when read by people satisfies the writer, for what’s worth in having musings on your own and for whom if you can’t share it.

But amidst these angelic havens lay dirty dens as well. People can be funny and might not follow you, or unfollow you when you have followed them back, but they were the first asking for a follow back in the first place. For instance, I have always followed back someone if they hit my follow button and specifically ask for a follow back. Similar instances can happen in two social media platforms very dependent on Followers, Twitter, and Instagram.

But with time I see that the numbers sometimes mismatch, the following suddenly increases by 1,2,3 to 20, while my followers remain the same. Then I realize, I have a thug in my house who likes to betray me, a cunning betrayer. But How do I find him? That’s why you need to read further and stay with me to know Who unfollows you on Medium, Instagram and Twitter?

The oldest trick in the book

Medium also has the accessibility feature of your follower data which comes out in the CSV format, just like Instagram, that you can access through a spreadsheet app or Excel and then run a search yourself within the sheet to know about the count of unfollows, you still have to do a lot of grind work to get back at the culprit, because it still does not come with specific names. You can access the CSV file via profile>>>> stats >>>> audience stats >>>>> download CSV

On Instagram, you can access it similarly. You need to access settings first, then select the Privacy and Security option and after that choose Data Download then in your UI along with a side panel you will see two radio buttons with HTML and JSON wrote on them. You can select either file format and click on Next. The email address will automatically be fed. Then click next and then enter the password and click on the ‘Request Download’ option.

Please do remember that this feature only tells you about the addition and reduction of followers and nothing else, who unfollowed you will still be a mystery.

That is one trick and it's very basic and it has lots of contents unnecessary to the intent we want to accomplish.

To know fast who has unfollowed us, and kill them with unkindness to force them to imbibe kindness, so an indirect way of killing them with kindness we need a better simple plan with fast results.

How can I see if someone doesn’t follow me on Medium?

We will discuss elaborately to pin pointedly determine this scenario. If you have your way with your PC, I can guarantee you can do it like in a minute.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1: Open two tabs on your default browser, Edge for MS WINDOWS users and Safari for MAC users.

Step 2: Navigate to your profile page. From the home page, look at the top right corner of the browser screen you will see the profile icon with a downward arrow, click on the icon and then select the ‘profile’ option.

Step 3: Scroll the screen and move to the About section of your Profile page. In About, scroll downwards you will find ‘Followers’ and ‘Following’.

Step 4: To trap the person concerned open both your Follower and Following pages.

Step 5: Open CopyLeaks’s interface and open the ‘Text Compare tool/window’ or write in ‘Copy Leaks Text Compare’ on the ‘Google search bar’.

Step 6: Click on the search result.

Step 7: In the Text Compare web page you will see two text boxes, you need to copy your Followers List on one and Following List on these two boxes.

Step 8: I can give you a copy tip, in case you are finding it difficult to copy the lists, you can simply select all by pressing ‘Ctrl + A’ together in the ‘Following’ window. The ‘Following Window opens in a different window so there is no risk of copying unnecessary text.

Step 9: Open the ‘Notepad app’ on your PC and only paste the Followers List.

But in Docs, if you try copy-pasting everything, the image icons will also tag along and appear while running ‘Compare’ on Copyleaks.

Step 10: Now go to Copy Leaks window again, and select compare. You will get a captcha code, type it in and select compare.

Step 11: Now you will see three shades of color highlighted on letters, one the extreme red, which is an exact match. Some words will be highlighted in Pink, which indicates a partial match of those letters together or words. And white means mismatch, that’s your ‘betrayer’, you need to get him…

Step 12: Now go back to your notepad,

Click on ‘edit’.

Then ‘find’, and then copy the white highlighted names of the compare page where you have pasted the Following data to the ‘Find What’ bar. You can only paste one name at a time. Let the internal search work without system duress.

Now select the ‘Checkboxes: Match Case and Wrap Around’, Select ‘Radio Button: Down’,

Click on the ‘find next’ button.

Tip: We are double-checking our results in case Copy Leaks skipped some names, just to be clear. You can also just copy each unmatched name and search for them from your Followers list manually. The Notepad just makes it easier in case you have a big list.

Step 13: A dialog box will appear in case there is no match, if there is a match you will see the words highlighted. In case there is no match, go to your ‘Following’ page that you opened earlier and find the person and unfollow it. You can simply search too since you have the username and manually unfollow without navigating the list.

In case you want to find Unfollowers on Instagram and Twitter, follow the same rule book and these are:

Get the Followers and Following data.

Paste it on the CopyLeaks Text compare page.

See where the mismatch is.

Search that name from your original following list and unfollow.

In case your list is long, paste your followers list on your Notepad and use the Find feature similarly as done for Medium and get back at your betrayer.

Voila! Finally, you have taken your revenge.
